Sept 4, 2016 – Saint Joseph to Chicago -- JPYC

1. 1 GENERAL
   The LMSRF Area III 2016 GSI will be followed.
   See GSI 22, See GSI 13, Time reference CDT. Radio: Channel 78.
   1. 1.2 COURSE:   Approx. 256°T, All marks to Port.
   2. 1.3 HANDICAP SCORING DISTANCE:  47.6 nautical miles.
   3. 1.4 SAFETY:   Liferafts suggested.
   4. 1.5 CLASS BREAKS:   GSI 7.2 - Race Table B

2. 2 STARTING
   1. 2.1 STARTING AREA :   The start will be located off the St Joseph harbor entrance
   2. 2.2 STARTING SEQUENCE Starting Sequence: The planned starting sequence will be:
      1. T-10
      2. PHRF 5
      3. J-105
      4. PHRF 3 & 4 & Ben 36.7
      5. Ben 40.7
      6. PHRF 2
      7. PHRF 1
      
      Please note, PHRF 3 & 4 & Ben 36.7 be scored as one section to be eligible for a brag flag. If more entrants happen, the sections will again be split out for the awards.

      Please monitor Channel 78 for changes to the starting sequence.

      TIME
      Time reference is Central Daylight Time.

      The timing for the first start will be:
      0800 Warning
      0801 Prep Up
      0804 Prep Down
      0805 Start

      Followed by rolling starts for the other classes.

   3. 2.3 STARTING LINE
      Between an orange tetra and the Orange flag on the RC boat; an extended line with a yellow tetra may be used for the T10 start outside the St Joseph Harbor entrance. If a guard mark is set near RC boat; yachts may not pass between the guard mark and RC boat.
3. 3 FINISHING
   • Finish line will be at SA 3 N 41º 54.33 Latitude and W 087º 32.38 Longitude approximate.
   • Boats shall cross the line between the white mark and blue line flag on the RCB.
   • See GSI 17. Sail boards will be displayed on the starboard side.
   • When approximately one mile from finish, each yacht is asked to notify the RC on channel 78.
   • The Race Committee Boat will be on station and transmitting broadcasts on channel 78. If a guard mark is set near the RC boat; yachts shall not pass between the guard mark and the RC boat.
   • Unless conditions make it unsafe the committee boat will stay on station until 2200 hours CDT on 9/4/2016. After that time, please take your finish time with the boat in front and boat behind and fax it to JPYC at 773- 684-2697 or text information to 773-233-5520 no later than 1930 of the day following the race.
   1. 3.1 ALTERNATE FINISHING
      • Whenever an RC boat is not on station at the finish line, boats shall follow the procedure outlined in RRS 34, as modified below to report their finish time.
      • The last sentence of RRS 34 is modified to read, If there is no longer an established finishing line, it shall be a line of Longitude bounded by two (2) lines of Latitude as follows: Longitude - W 87:32.38, Latitude - N 41:54.33 and N 41:54.43. The finish time shall be the GPS time shown when the finish line is crossed.
      • If no RC boat is on station, they shall notify the RC on Channel 78 within 15 minutes after finishing with 1) finish time, 2) boat name, 3) and sail number. If no response, call: Janet Hansen at 773-233-5520.  If no response, all information requested on the Yacht Finish Report shall be sent by fax to JPYC office (773-684-2697) or text information to 773-233-5520 no later than 1930 of the day following the race.
   2. 3.2 TIME LIMIT
      Only yachts finishing by 0300 hours CDT on 9/5/2016, plus the amount of any postponement time applicable to a yacht's class, will be scored as finishing. This changes RRS 35.
4. 4 Changes Changes to the SSI’s will be announced on the water via channel 78 prior to the start of the race
5. 4 ORR
   ORR: Boats entering this race under LMPHRF or a one-design class will automatically be scored with an ORR overlay.
6. 5 AWARDS Brag flags will be awarded for the first 3 finishers of each section.
